Apple's was the world's tenth most popular website in January 2006, new research reveals.

Web-watchers at Nielsen NetRatings claimed the site was the tenth most popular by brand, receiving just under 35 million visitors, each of which spent an average of one hour and six minutes on the company's site.

Yahoo, Microsoft, MSN, Google, AOL, eBay, Amazon and MapQuest came in ahead of Apple, as did Real, which took ninth place, AppleInsider reports.

Apple has one of the fastest-growing internet brands, according to January figures from the analysts, with over 14 per cent of the internet population now visiting iTunes regularly.
