Apple has released a firmware update for the 17-inch MacBook Pro.

The update adjusts fan behaviour in the 17-inch MacBook Pro. Apple warns that as this is a firmware update it is essential to follow the company's installation instructions to the letter.

To install the 1MB update users must quit all open applications and then click Restart in the firmware install window. A status bar indicates the progress of the update. During the update the Mac's fans will run at full speed, but will return to normal once the update completes. The Mac will then restart.

Information about the firmware update is available here.
