US brands face negative reactions from globe's consumers, but Apple improves

Apple is one of the few US brands that aren't becoming less popular outside its home country.

Many big US brands are seen as less likeable than before, according to new research (the Brand Power Study) disclosed by CNN Money.

Coca-Cola, McDonalds and Nike are among the biggest brands to suffer declining consumer sentiment, while Apple, Google, Disney and even Microsoft are seeing their ranking improve, the report claims.

Anti-American sentiment is particularly affecting US brands in the developing economies.

The study tracked 30,000 consumers and their attitudes to top global brands in 25 countries. It was conducted between November 2006 and January 2007.

It looked at a mix of 60 American and international brands.
