Apple reveals cheat codes for iPod games as analyst predicts video game market strategy

Apple has let cheat codes for some of its new iPod games slip.

The company's senior director of iPod marketing, Stan Ng, revealed the codes for two games to the editors at iLounge. He said: "There's a little bit more hidden depth to the games that people haven't discovered yet."

Cheats for Vortex and Texas Hold 'Em are available, with one even generating a back picture of an Apple conference room, and another revealing an image of Stonehenge. Full instructions are available on iLounge.

In a separate report, Ng confirmed that a team that's focused on games for the iPod exists at Apple, and observed that games developers have approached the company to express their desire to create more titles for the player.

Prudential analyst Jesse Tortora yesterday claimed that Apple may have more plans to enter the video game market. According to that analyst, Apple is hiring game designers.

"We think the video game market represents a distinct possibility for Apple, especially considering that it recently announced the availability of video games for its iPod through its iTunes store," the analyst wrote.
