Leading UK restaurant, the Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire has begun serving up an iPod as part of its signature seafood dish.

Chef Heston Blumenthal is offering the iPods (on loan) to diners who choose to eat his 'Sound of the Sea' seafood dish.

Diners get seaweed, seafood and tapioca served in a wooden box with a surround of sand and seashells. The iPod comes too, diners are asked to pop the headphones on and listen to the sound of the sea as they tuck in.

Based on a series of tests conducted at Oxford University, Blumenthal believes that sound can enhance taste, telling the Square Meal: "We ate an oyster while listening to the sea and it tasted stronger and saltier than when we ate it while listening to barnyard noises, for example."
