Apple has confirmed two additional not-yet-open retail stores in the UK, promising new shops in Reading and at the Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex.

The news means Apple hopes to have at least sixteen retail outlets open by the end of the year. Earlier this week it began recruiting staff for a new Apple retail store in Exeter.

The company's existing UK retail chain includes shops in: Birmingham, Bullring Centre; Kent, Bluewater Centre; Kingston's Bentall Centre; London, Brent Cross and Regent Street; Manchester's Arndale and Trafford Centres; Sheffield's Meadowhall; and Southampton's West Quay.

Rumours claim Apple is also planning to open for business with locations in Edinburgh and Liverpool.
