In the latest episode of The Simpsons, shown on Fox in the US Sunday night, ‘MyPods and Boomsticks,’ Lisa Simpson and family are shown entering the newly open Springfield ‘Mapple’ store, a clear reference to Apple.

On entering the Mapple store Lisa gasps "It's so sterile," as rows of MyPods, MyPhones, MyCubes and a Brainiac Bar are shown complete with Comic Book Guy revealing that he has mayonnaise in his CD drive.

Lisa tries to buy a pair of fake white earphones so people will think she has a MyPod only to discover MyPhonies costs $40.

Steve Mobs, evidently modelled on Apple CEO Steve Jobs makes an appearance and there's a chance to discover what Krusty the Clown thinks of his MyPod.

Bart is shown disrupting the latest Mapple announcement from Mobs, direct from his underwater HQ.

"You think you're cool because you buy a $500 phone with a picture of a fruit on it. Well guess what? They cost 8 bucks to make and I pee on every one," says Bart pretending to be the CEO.

The episode is expected to be shown later this year on Sky One in the UK.

Family connection between Apple, Jobs and The Simp said on Mon, 01 Dec 2008

Steve Jobs' sister is Mona Simpson... Married to Richard Appel (sic) who is a writer for The Simpsons, used his wife's name for Homer Simpson's mother, beginning with the episode "Mother Simpson".

The whole thing sounds rubbish, the Simpsons used to be clever and original, now it just makes obvious jokes that aren't funny.

I think the are closer to the mark than Apple users want to believe.

They may be correct, but they're such obvious jokes, The Simpsons used to be better than this.

Yes it was like shooting fish in a barrel (proved to be easy on MythBusters) but I still laughed quite a bit. At least it was done well. I especially liked them having Steve "Mobs" living under the ocean.

Looks like the powers that be have removed the YouTube video, shame, very funny, and I for one would love a MyCube, whatever it does.

Whatever happened to free trade.

There probably is a class action lawsuit here or at the best a reprimand from who ever happens to be in power at the time.

I'm in Canada, and, very glad of it.

Cheers

I've seen the clip in question and found it funny. Amongst the jokes, I'm more surprised no one actually mentioned the homage to Ridley Scott's "1984" ad....
