Nip over to Italy or Belgium and unlocked iPhones have been available SIM free since last July and a bit cheaper than this offering. I have an Italian one and it works with any SIM, only downside is the data connection and getting the best deal - still not really sorted that yet as I have a 'company' O2 sim and they won't cough up the extra tennaer per month or let me pay it!

Not bad, but if you pay the £35 a month contract and the £100 up front it works out around the same and you get to pay it off over 18 months.

This is great, this option should have been here from the start.

Get one on O2 PAYG and save the money, you also get 12 months data (wifi & 3g) thrown in.

£599 for the 16GB model, I may get 2 of them. Wow absolute bargain. Glad to see Apple have been cutting the prices of these phones. It's now almost within an earth's orbit of being affordable. One day I'll own one I'm sure :-)

I wipe my bum with £599 everyday. This is cheaper than peanuts!

Wondered where all the world's money had vanished in this credit crunch. Now I think we know :-)

surely its cheaper to buy it on pay as you go on O2, get the choice of the black or white, and receive 12 months free 3g internet connection. All for £400. Just transfer number

It's not easier to get an PAYG phone if you are stuck in a contract with another network? You would end up having to keep two phones going.

CONTINUED:You'd use your current phone for ringing people and the iphone for everything else as the current phone (on contract) is the one that has all the inclusive minutes xross-network. What's the point in paying for a contract and the free minutes that come along with it if you're going to be using a PAYG SIM and topping that up too?
iglad said on Sat, 28 Mar 2009
However at that price you dont the all you can eat internet access and free minutes do you?
Johnny said on Mon, 30 Mar 2009
You're all missing the point. Yes it is expensive, but you can use it with any SIM card on any network. There are quite a few people out there willing to pay that kind of money for that.
