Adobe has added Flex support of LiveCycle PDF workflow.

The Windows only, LiveCycle Enterprise Suite, makes it possible to automate PDFs. By adding support for the Flex framework Adobe will make it possible to move beyond traditional PDF-based forms.

"I can create a UI with [Adobe] Flex that leverages all of the back-end services of LiveCycle," Brian Wick, Adobe group product marketing manager for LiveCycle, told InfoWorld .

"The forms can be processed and created within a Flex environment, which is more wizard-like and engaging, or a PDF environment," he added.

LiveCycle is the technology that allows XML to be extracted form a PDF file, enabling input and management of data as electronic forms. The tool is only currently available on the Windows platform.
