Voice search and other voice-activated functions seem to be part of Apple's plans for the iOS platform.
"You will work with our team on a wide variety of speech-related development activities. We need a team player - you will be working closely with engineers on the Application Frameworks team as well as other teams at Apple - and we need someone who is comfortable working in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing priorities," the listing reads.
There are already free voice search apps for iOS, including Dragon Search from Nuance Communications. Yahoo and Google also offer voice search facilities for iOS.
The listing also specifies that candidates with knowledge of Nuance Recognizer, IBM WebSphere Voice and Google Voice Search would be welcomed.
Speculation that Apple may also be planning to develop its own navigational platform grew earlier this week with other job listings calling for software engineers with deep knowledge of computational geometry and graph theory.
