Infinite Skills is currently offering all Macworld readers an exclusive Advanced InDesign Macworld Bundle Offer. Anyone who purchases the Adobe InDesign CS5 training will also receive the Adobe InDesign CS5 Advanced training video (normally £63.99) for free.

Adobe InDesign is the most widely used page layout application, popular because of its professional features and integration with other Adobe applications. Even with the program's widespread use, a recent survey has revealed that most designers only use 28 per cent of the InDesign functions and even less fully utilise the program's Adobe workflow capabilities.

"As a result, it's taking more time and effort to complete projects," said Colin Boyd, sales director for Infinite Skills. "In this commercial climate, that's far from ideal."

The problem with mastering new skills is it takes time and money, neither of which is readily available to many designers, according to Boyd. Infinite Skills' proposed solution is video-based training, and judging from customer feedback, the company has found many users in agreement.

"Users typically do things the way that they were first shown, either by a peer, or often from a random website," said Boyd. "But our videos use proven best practices that show the most efficient way to get a task done."

The company currently offers an Adobe InDesign CS5 training video that covers the program's workspace, composition, and layout tools with 97 short, topic-specific lessons running a total of 10 hours in length. After seeing the demand for InDesign training, the company has also recently released an advanced Indesign CS5 tutorial series with lessons on advanced formatting and designing interactive, media-rich documents.

Adobe Certified Expert Jeff Witchel narrates both courses and presents sample projects designed to illustrate core skills. Functional InDesign files are included with the courses, which can be ordered on DVD-ROM or fully downloaded from the company's website.

"There have never been more resources available for learning software, from entire classes and one-on-one personal instruction to books, but our video training hits a perfect balance of price and usability," Boyd said. "Viewers can learn at their own pace, from a professional trainer, for far less than they'd pay for a seminar-style course."
