Safari 5.1 in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion will get a new downloads menu, similar to that used by the iPad.

According to Apple Insider the current downloads menu will still be present, accessed via the Windows/Download menu options.

However, a new icon is present in Safari 5.1 for Mac OS X 10.7 Lion to the right of the URL and Search fields. When clicked, a pop-up menu reveals the status of current downloads and lists previous downloads, similar to the download menu on the iPad.

Mac OS X: Make Snow Leopard (and other cats) roar like Lion

Last month, it was revealed that Apple planned to include a Do Not Track feature in Safari for OS X 10.7 Lion.

Rather than actually preventing the monitoring of the data, the 'Do Not Track' systems simply send out messages to websites and online advertising networks that a particular user has specified that they don't wish to have their activities tracked, and rely entirely on the sites and networks in question honouring that request.

Similar features can already be found in Firefox 4 and Internet Explorer 9. Google's Chrome has an add-on called Keep My Opt-Outs that gives users the option to permanently opt out of ad tracking systems.
