Apple has quietly added AppleTV support to its QuickTime multimedia software.

QuickTime now offers a new export option, "Export to Apple TV". This feature lets users export movies created within QuickTime-supporting products such as iMovie and Final Cut Pro, into high-definition videos for playback through Apple TV, iLounge first identified yesterday.

"Unlike Export to iPod, which currently creates sub-DVD-quality 640-x-480 videos, Export to Apple TV creates not only full DVD-quality 720-x-404 videos, but also 1,280-x-720 videos," iLounge claims.

The latter format is a high-definition format supported by current televisions.
