RunRev has updated LiveCode, its app development platform.

LiveCode 4.6 comes in mobile (iOS and Android) and desktop (Mac and Windows) versions and includes around 130 new features, improvements and fixes to its predecessor, RunRev said.

The iOS version adds 20 new features alone, including support for SQLite databases, ZIP files and XML, support for iOS native text entry fields and multiple camera support.

There are also a dozen refinements - all of which were developer requested, according to RunRev - to the desktop version. These include support for very large images on Mac OS X and the ability to render objects with and without graphic effects and blending.

“I’m pleased to announce that 4.6 keeps LiveCode on the cutting edge of development in the ever changing mobile space.  With this major release we are setting the pace for developers to build cross-platform, cross-device apps with a fast, flexible platform. This release includes a full set of new features and many developer requested refinements,” Kevin Miller, CEO of RunRev said.

Prices begin at £65 for single-licence versions of LiveCode 4.6 for iOS, Android or Mac/Windows.
