You Software has updated its free utility offering complete control of iTunes within the Mac OS X menu bar.
You Control: Tunes 1.5 offers several new features, including the ability to view individual podcast episodes in their own menus and improved support for internet radio stations.
Users can also set-up a continuously scrolling ticker of current track information in the menu bar and a menu command for toggling the shuffle mode in iTunes on and off. The developer claims over a dozen improvements in the release.
You Control: Tunes provides easy access to the iTunes controls (such as Next Track, Previous, Volume, Play/Pause, Stop) via both menu items and user-defined hot keys.
The software is capable of displaying current track information in multiple locations, including the menu bar, custom menus, and as an overlay on the desktop.
The utility is being made available for free in order to showcase the award-winninng You Control application, a utility that allows users to build custom menus using a variety of modules. You Control will shortly be updated to provide these new features within its Tunes module.
