Macs are popular, very popular, recent activity shows.

Over one hundred bargain-hunters turned up to buy cheap $50 iBooks from Henrico County yesterday, despite global publicity saying the Macs will now go on sale next week.

A local report in the Richmond Times-Dispatch explains the century of Mac aficionados showed up for the sale. A few showed up at the first announced sale point, a local education authority warehouse; the majority went along to the Richmond International Raceway, which will now host the sale next week.

Some buyers flew in from across the US - from Florida and Michigan, the report exclaims.

The iBooks are scheduled now to go on sale next Tuesday at 9am at the Raceway. Gates will open at 7am, and only local residents and taxpayers are invited along.

As previously reported, Henrico County has forbidden overnight parking or camping for the event, in an attempt to ensure the now Dell education district doesn't also become the venue for an unofficial Mac festival.
