3dfx will demonstrate its Voodoo 5 5500 PCI 3D acceleration board at Macworld Expo, New York.

The company will also host a Mac gaming zone, featuring leading games developers. Bryan Speece, 3dfx’s director of marketing, says: "With our intent to dominate the Mac gaming market, we are only too eager to accommodate the tidal wave of developer requests to demonstrate their products in our booth."

3dfx has been petitioning Apple to let consumers buying Apple hardware to specify which acceleration card comes with their Mac. Speece says: "The presence of game developers at our booth sends the message that our product gives the kind of performance content creators crave on a Mac."

Gathering of Developers will be showcasing Rune, Oni, Tropico and 4-x-4 Evolution on Voodoo-powered Macs on the 3dfx stand. Other publishers slated to make an appearance at the 3dfx booth include Aspyr, MacSoft, Blizzard and Graphic Simulations.
