4D UK announced a significantly-improved version of its database development application, 4D v.2004 at Apple Expo.
The new version promises new development and deployment capabilities, and claims "over 100" new features. Its design environment has been streamlined and its Web server capabilities have been enhanced, with new XML and Web services technologies added.
The solution has also been beefed-up to exploit Windows XP and Mac OS X 10.4 (Panther) technologies, too.
With a sense of pride 4D chairman and founder Laurent Ribardiere described the release as "our best release ever".
"More than 100 new features, including new interface objects, revolutionary new deployment technologies and dramatically improved performance ensure that 4D developers all over the world can quickly create elegant, robust applications."
Many of the new features focus on saving developer's time, so new interface objects, window types and improved subforms mean developers can build applications faster, the company claims.
After development is done, the product's end-user features include user-modifiable forms, automatic application distribution, and new backup and restore capabilities.
Prices and further product information is available from 4D's Web site.
