Trans Intl has announced the first 512MB RAM module for Apple's iBook range.

Memory expansion for iBooks has so far been limited by the available maximum memory -module size of 256MB. The introduction of a 512MB module means iBook users can now install the maximum amount of RAM supported by iBooks.

The iBook G3 500MHz model's system-memory capacity can now be upgraded to 640MB or 576MB of RAM, depending on how much RAM is soldered inside the machine on purchase.

This maximum was not available to iBooks, as it has one available RAM slot only, and the largest compatible RAM module on the market was 256MB.

Earlier this year, Trans Intl pioneered a 512MB memory module for the Apple G4 400 and 500MHz PowerBooks.

Pricing for the 512MB memory modules has yet to be announced.
