Adobe yesterday unveiled plans to launch the Adobe Photographers Directory - a listing of professional photographers that's accessible from within the company's creative products.

This "feature" will initially be available in North America, but the company plans to extend it to other markets "over time". the company will work closely with the American Society of Media Photographers to this end.

The latter society has published a page that describes how photographers can add their names to this list.

"Photoshop and Adobe®Creative Suite have brought the digital image into the heart of creative workflows as our customers deliver compelling content to print media, the Web and emerging mobile platforms," said Bryan Lamkin, senior vice president of Digital Imaging and Digital Video at Adobe.

"When creative professionals are searching for that perfect photograph that reflects their vision, they should be able to find it within the tools they rely on most. That's our goal with this directory."
