Alpine Electronics is now shipping its in-car iPod-based audio system in the UK.

The Alpine Interface Adapter for iPod (model KCA-420i) connects an iPod or iPod mini to a compatible 2004 Alpine Ai-NET head unit so users can play their iPod's music through a car stereo.

Users can view song information, control iPod playback, and find tracks using the receiver's Quick Search interface, via buttons in the in-dash head unit or via remote.

Alpine boasts that its Bass Engine technologies mean users experience better sound quality, and its MediaXpander technology restores detail lost when digital music is compressed.

The adapter can be installed anywhere in the vehicle - under a seat, in the glove compartment or behind the dashboard. A single cable connects it to the Alpine head unit, while a second cable connects the adapter to the iPod through the iPod dock connector. It will also recharge the iPod's internal battery. It costs £70.
