Shareware company Ambrosia is set to release Cythera, a role-playing game set in a magical medieval world.

This game costs $25 (registration) and can be downloaded from Ambrosias Web site.

The company will also unveil Ares, a futuristic mission-based strategy action game. First developed by Bigger Planet (http://www.biggerplanet.com/), Ares was originally released by Changeling. Problems with distribution have led Ambrosia to adopt the role of distributors for third-party products.

The releases come in the wake of a promise from Ambrosia marketing chief Jason Whong – that he’ll dine on real bugs if any Ambrosia products prove buggy (Daily News, Games boss’ bugs-feast pledge (August 24).
