Ambrosia has released a new car racing game for Macs called Redline.

The game uses its own 3D rendering and physics engines to give each virtual vehicle its own specific "feel", the company said.

Players race their vehicles in one of three modes: a realistic simulation mode; an arcade mode; or a fast-paced "Turbo Arcade" mode.

The game also supports up to 12 people in a network race, either on a local network, or over the internet. Players meet up in the lobby, choose a car, agree a course and race against each other.

Players must face challenges, acquiring experience as they go. Experience earns players new challenges to face and new cars to drive, and is also tracked on the game's internet leader baord.

The game costs $25.
