America Online (AOL) has updated its instant messaging client to v4.5.863.

New features to this version include; Long Filename Support; Security Fix and bug fixes.

AOL Instant Messenger 4.5.863's new File Sharing feature sends files to buddies without them signing on. A folder to be shared is chosen, then users that can access the folder are specified. Each time users sign on, specified buddies will have access to designated files.

This update is available as a 3.1 MB BIN download or 4.3 MB HQX download.

Other new features include a new OS X Preference-Style. AIM now uses the new OS X-style preferences.

There is a new Events Actions in preferences. Users can assign custom sounds, run scripts, and automatically log various events as they occur in AIM.

Other highlights include optimization for Mac OS X and a new Aqua interface.
