Apple has confirmed a small number of layoffs at its Laguna, Sacramento premises in the US.

This authenticates recent reports from a variety of sources online. MacCentral reports an Apple statement verifying the news: “Apple has had some minor staff reductions in the normal course of business, but our overall headcount continues to grow.”

The layoffs reportedly began Tuesday, when the night shift turned up for work. Layoffs continued during the 6am shift. It's understood to affect under seven per cent of the company's Sacramento staff.
