Apple is changing its packaging for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, and is also ensuring the latest build (v10.4.6) ships in all retail boxes shipped.

In future the OS will ship in a smaller box - the same size of box in which it ships iLife, .Mac and iWork.
"The Tiger retail box (£89) and Family Pack (£139) are changing to the smaller box format, that was pioneered with iLife and .Mac in January 2006," the company said.

Apple has also confirmed that customers who buy a copy of the OS but don't have a DVD drive in their Mac can continue to exchange their install DVD for a series of installation CDs until December 31, 2006. This exchange scheme costs £11.99.
