Apple has won a $3.1 million contract to provide 1,200 computers to schools in a suburb of Pittsburgh.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Quaker Valley School Board voted 8-0 in favour of the four-year lease that expands on an initiative already in place.

Students in grades 3-12 have already had access to Apple laptops. The programme expansion will make laptops and desktops available for use in libraries and computer labs throughout the districts elementary and middle schools.
