Apple has sold a further seven per cent of its holding in British microchip designer ARM Holdings.

Apple has reduced its investment in ARM to 4.95 per cent. ARM once manufactured the StrongARM processor for Apple's ill-fated Newton Message Pad.

Apple shares remain fairly stable, though the company lost four per cent of its value on Friday, closing at $110.375 on the Nasdaq.

The Nasdaq itself dropped in value. A Reuters report alleges this is due to investors questioning the valuation of stocks in the technology sector, and choosing to invest in cheaper, more traditional shares.
