Apple has released an important security update for both Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.3 systems.

The update is recommended for all users and offers improved security across a range of OS system functions, including the log-in screen, system configuration and AirPort security.

Apple has confirmed that the release actually updates Mac security on 19 different points: AFP Client; AirPort; CarbonCore; diskdev_cmds; fetchmail; ftpd; gnutar; Help Viewer; HID family; Installer; Kerberos; Libinfo; Login Window; network_cmds; SMB; System Configuration; URLMount; Video Conference and WebDav.

The following versions of the update are available:

Security Update 2007-004 (10.3.9 Server, 54.1MB);
Security Update 2007-004 (10.3.9 Client, 37.6MB);
Security Update 2007-004 (PPC, 9.3MB);
Security Update 2007-004 (Universal, 16.1MB).
