The awards will be presented by Apple during the Worldwide Developers Conference in May in San José. The company says they will recognize "innovation, advanced OS X look-&-feel, use of Apple technologies, and new, exciting, and high-quality OS X products".
This year there is a new category, for the best OS X student product –marking Apple's attempt to encourage fledgling OS X designers. Other categories include: Best New OS X Product; Most Innovative OS X Product; Best OS X User Experience; and Mac OS X Technology Adoption.
Prizes include a top-of-the-range Power Mac G4 and Cinema Display. Deadline for submissions is April 5, except for the student category, for which the deadline is March 1. Only Apple Developer Connection members are eligible to enter the contest.
Last year's winners included: the OmniGroup, Tenon Intersystems, Micromat, MYOB, Real Software, and Catchy Software.
