Apple has found a new vice president of Europe, Pascal Cagni, who was formerly vice president of consumer products at NEC/Packard Bell.

Pascal Cagni takes over the post previously held by Diego Piacentini, who left to join Amazon.com last month.

Cagni joined Packard Bell in 1995 as vice president of marketing. Before this he held sales positions at Software Publishing Corporation and Compaq Computer.

According to a press statement from Apple, Cagni's "strong leadership" was responsible for Packard Bell Europe capturing a 12 per cent share of the consumer market during his tenure.

"Pascal has a successful track record of growing significant market share and providing excellent leadership to his teams," said Mitch Mandich, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide sales.

Cagni has an MA in Law from Insitut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris, and an MBA from Institut Superieur des Affaires.
