Runtime Revolution has announced Revolution Studio and Revolution Enterprise 2.5, a major update to its professional development tools.

The release brings new data security features, Linux native theme support, support for XML-RPC (Extensible Markup Language - Remote Procedure Calling); better documentation and an improved user interface and a claimed "700 other enhancements".

Company CEO Kevin Miller said: "This must-have upgrade is a big step forward for our award-winning Revolution product. It's our fourth major upgrade since Revolution was released in 2001, and brings many new features, together with hundreds of refinements, and an overall stability improvement."

Additional new features include: Full support for SSL for secure data transmission and industrial-strength encryption; Improved Unicode support; A new learning centre, with video, PDF and sample project resources.
