Sonnet Technologies is at Apple Expo, Paris to show attendees its latest iPod accessory, the Volta for video iPod.

This device works with an iPod with video to increase the total video playback time to up to 16 hours.

Effectively this is a rechargeable battery in an aluminium shell, with a glossy black finish. The iPod docks to Volta, which clips to the back of the iPod. A fully charged Volta will power the iPod as though connected to a computer or AC adaptor. The combined unit stands for easy viewing.

Volta ships with a charging cable that can be used with any computer, AC adaptor, or car charger with a USB port. The device also features four front-mounted LEDs to indicate charging status and remaining charge level. The soluton contains a 2100 mAh Lithium-polymer battery.

"Consumers show a growing interest in taking their digital video on the road," observed company CEO Robert Farnsworth.

The company claims the recharger is shipping now. Sonnet products are distributed in the UK by AM Micro and Channel Dynamics.
