Apple has fixed an issue that was causing flickering on screens connected to the new Mac mini via HDMI.

The flaw was related to the Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU inside the new Mac mini. Intel acknowledged the issue on a community message board, and delivered a fix in early December to Windows and Linux machines. Apple had to configure the driver before it could issue the update to Mac users, however.

The Mac mini EFI Firmware Update 1.7 is available from Apple. It is required for the late 2012 Mac mini models.

As we reported at he beginning of the month, Mac mini uses were experiencing an issue that was causing flickering. Users of the new Mac mini took to the Apple Discussion forums to complain about screen flickering issues and display blackouts that are experienced when the new Mac mini is plugged into a screen via the HDMI port.
