Apple could sell 474 million songs in 2005, an analyst believes.

Apple revealed that download rates are accelerating, with the company announcing it has sold a total of 200 million songs so far. This prompted analysts at Piper Jaffray to upgrade their predictions of iTunes sales.

Piper Jaffray doesn't expect these sales to affect Apple's bottom line significantly in 2005, but, "continued growth could provide some earnings leverage as volumes become more significant," the analysts said.
