Apple Japan president Eiko Harada is to leave Apple to become chief executive of McDonald's Japan, pending shareholder approval.

Eiko Harada will quit Apple in late February.

Announcing the move Apple said Harada has received "an offer for the presidency from a non-IT company."

Harada has been at his post since 1997. According to a Dow Jones Newswire report, a successor has not yet been named, but senior vice president of worldwide sales Tim Cook will reportedly fill his shoes until another can be found.
