Apple has launched a new configuration of the 17-inch iMac that's designed specifically for education customers.
The new education Mac offers a 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo processor, a built-in iSight video camera and iLife '06. It's available now and replaces Apple's last CRT Mac, the eMac.
Along with its 17-inch LCD display, the new iMac for education features a Combo drive for burning CDs and reading DVDs, 512MB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory, expandable up to 2GB, hard drive storage capacity up to 160GB, built-in 10/100/1000 BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet, AirPort Extreme, five USB ports (three USB 2.0) and two FireWire 400 ports.
The new iMac costs £639, Apple UK has confirmed. This price includes VAT. The new education iMac is presently only available to education customers.
