Apple is offering a special discount deal for new .Mac subscribers.

The move to drum up .Mac business dovetails neatly with the .Mac synchronization improvements inherent in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, the new version of the Mac OS which ships on April 29.

Apple is offering £20 off the cost of the first year's .Mac membership to new customers signing up between April 12 and May 23. The discount is applied as a mail-in rebate.

"With .Mac, you get innovative software and services, including an ad-free email account, Web site creation tools, easy-to-use backup software, and more. And now .Mac unlocks powerful features in Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger” including effortless syncing of the most important data on all your Mac computers," says Apple.
