Apple has filed a patent for "Gestures for touch sensitive input devices" at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
It is described by Apple in the filing as: "A computer implemented method for processing touch inputs". These touch inputs could be translated to a zoom gesture, a pan gesture, grouping, rotating and page turning, according to the notes.
This includes reading data from a "multipoint sensing device such as a multipoint touch screen". Among the inventors listed is Jonathan Ive.
The DailyTech includes an illustration of the technology.
