Apple and Pepsi have confirmed plans for a new joint iTunes promotion in the US.

The computer company has added a page to its site. There, interested music fans can sign up to receive an email letting them know when the promotion begins.

Apple has also confirmed that one in three bottles of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Wild Cherry, Mountain Dew, Diet Mountain Dew, Mountain Dew Code Red and Sierra Mist will carry a specially-labelled top entitling the winner to a free song from iTunes.

Also confirmed - that Apple and Pepsi will give away a free iPod mini every hour for the duration of the promotion, which is "coming soon". Previous reports have suggested the prmotion will once again debut at SuperBowl next month.

Up to 200 million free songs are expected to be given away during this promotion, however, the promotion last year delivered results far below anyone's expectations - just five million of 100 million potential give away tunes were downloaded by sweet-toothed soda pop drinkers.
