Apple and Canon sponsors of the New Creativity In Digital Video awards will be kitting winners out with an iMac, digital-video editing software iMovie 2 and a Canon digital camera for their school.

Winning entries will be showcased nationally by 4Learning – Channel 4's educational arm.

Pupils from all UK primary, secondary, special and specialist schools who have created and edited video are invited to compete.

The awards "celebrate excellence in creative use of the digital -video medium". Judges are looking for highly creative and imaginative use of technology.

The closing date for entries is November 1, 2002.

The competition is being hosted by Becta, the Government's agency for Information Communication and Technology in education.

Apple, Canon and Becta have formed an alliance for a number of education initiatives, most notably a conference in June. At the event it was announced that use of "Apple's digital-video solutions in schools lead to better behaved and happier pupils".
