Apple is proposing to settle a class-action lawsuit filed due to DVD playback issues in early models of Apple iMac DV, iMac DV SE and Power Mac G4 computers.

If the settlement is finalized, those eligible for compensation will receive a free CD-ROM upgrade to rectify the playback quality of the DVD drives.

Members of the settlement class may also be entitled to discounts on iMovie 2, AppleWorks 6, Apple 64MB Memory Module, Apple Pro Mouse and Apple Pro Keyboard.

Members of this settlement class must file for compensation by November 12. The lawsuit applies only to machines bought in the US.
