Apple has released iTunes 5.0.1, an updated version of the software that addresses stability issues encountered within the previous release.

The 13.8MB update is available directly from Apple's website. It's also available using OS X's Software Update feature.

The release offers all the features available in version 5: A new instant search tool, including the new Search Bar; folders for organizing playlists, and Parental Controls.

The software - which is available for Mac and Windows: "Features several stability improvements over iTunes 5," Apple says.

This follows previous reports that iTunes 5 as originally shipped would cause some, but not all, Windows systems to become unstable.
