Apple has contracted two independent Web designers as consultants to help redesign the Apple Web site.

The redesign is not expected to affect the visual presentation of the site, but to enhance Apple's support for existing and emerging Web standards, reports MacMinute.

The Web contractors are Jeffrey Zeldman of Happy Cog Studios and Douglas Bowman of Stopdesign. Both are recognized for their standards-based approach to Web design.

"We'll be working with Messieurs Rand Hill, Douglas Vincent, and Chad Little of Apple's Web design team," said self-confessed Apple fan Zeldman.

The two consultants will work with Apple's team to "provide guidance and a bit of a jump start" in implementing these standards, said Bowman in his online blog.

"We hear talks have been going on between involved parties for months," he states.
