Apple UK will charge £159 for the five-seat Mac OS X Family Pack.

The pack offers fully licensed Mac OS X 10.2 installations for up to five Macs installed in the same household.

Family Packs are for residential customers only: they are not intended for businesses or for educational institutions.

Packs consist of a single copy of the Mac OS X 10.2 installation disc, and five-user licences. When a single-licence version of the operating system is installed on more than one Mac, the software agreement for the OS is broken. Apple hopes that by offering five installations in one box for a slight mark-up, the company will “be able to keep honest users honest”, said a source.
