Apple has issued its second update to WebObjects 4.5.

The company recommends all WebObjects 4.5 users install the upgrade.

The update offers password protection on the event-logging set-up and statistics pages. It contains a number of software fixes to correct crashing and hanging errors, and is compatible with several operating systems.

WebObjects is Apple’s application server framework for the Web, and is often used to develop Web-based e-commerce applications. It can link up with databases, and offers server management features.

WebObjects 5 for Java is scheduled for release later this year. The application will be built entirely on Java code, and will let developers build Web-based applications capable of running on any server.

Apple recently cut the price of the application. At the time, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said: "WebObjects is the premiere software for rapidly deploying and developing Web applications for millions of users worldwide."
