Apple has updated its AirPort software to version 4.1.

The 13.6MB update is available using the Software Update feature of OS X. It provides, "improved AirPort wireless networking software, and is recommended for all users with an AirPort Extreme and AirPort-enabled computer, or an AirPort Extreme/Express base station", according to Apple's notes.

The update offers support for Keyspan's Express Remote for AirTunes. It also offers support for WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) security on WDS (Wireless Distribution System) networks. It also delivers the facility to rename a USB printer connected to a base station.

Apple has also released firmware updates for AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme base stations. Both Mac and Windows versions of these are available. The installations have been packaged in a new utility application that simplifies installation. The new firmware updates support the same fetaures added in the AirPort software update, and also makes songs played using AirTunes more reliable.
