Apple has released its latest update for AirPort Extreme and Intel processor-based Macs.

Apple is recommending the AirPort Extreme Update 2007-003 update for all Intel-based Macs. The software includes compatibility updates for certain third-party access points configured to use WPA or WPA2 security.

The 3MB software download is available through Software Update of for direct download from the company's support website, which was recently updated.

The company last night also released security updates to QuickTime (Mac and Windows systems), along with the latest iteration of its regular Mac OS X general security updates.

Apple has increased the frequency of its security updates in recent months, answering previous critics who claimed it wasn't active enough in dealing with security matters.

However, Apple's decision to ramp-up security software releases has now attracted other critics, who say that the fact Apple is addressing such matters shows Mac OS X isn't the perfectly secure operating system many of its users claim it to be.
