Apple has posted its FireWire 2.3.3 update, this includes three system extensions and overcomes a number of problems in its previous FireWire support.

The extensions include FireWire Support, FireWire Enabler and FireWire CardBus Enabler.

The update means that Target Disk Mode will now work on PowerBooks with built-in FireWire. Additionally, certain DV camcorders will enjoy steadier connections when importing video using Video editing apps.

Apple claims the update stops Mac OS pausing while booting when certain FireWire disk drives are connected, and systems won’t pause during heavy disk activity.
