Apple's iPod - the world's bestselling digital-music player – has the Becks seal of approval, with the UK's top red-top tabloid The Sun singing its praises after newly signed Real Madrid star and England football captain David Beckham was snapped out jogging with one strapped to his side.

The Sun's Dominic Mohan rhapsodizes about the iPod in today's newspaper: "It is a growing cult united by the tiny personal stereo that is the must-have accessory of 2003. And it was designed by a Brit."

"It might sound a complex gadget - but let’s face it, if Victoria and David can manage to use one, I’m sure most people can," adds Mohan.

Ex-Spice Girl Victoria "Posh" Beckham was pictured with an iPod in New York yesterday, while David listened to his in the south of France.

"The iPod’s distinctive white headphones are a sign that you’re part of the cult — owners have been known to acknowledge one another when they spot the trademark earpieces although, in my iBook, that’s taking things a little too far," says the Mohan.

The Sun states that other celebrity iPod owners include: Craig David, David Gray, Fatboy Slim, David Bowie, and Robbie Williams.

Apple's iPod works with both Mac OS X and Windows XP systems.
